Portland Filmy

ace hotel

I loved portland just as much as I thought I would! the people are so friendly, the food everywhere is delicious (coffee equally good), and the vintage shops are darling and affordable. my favorite was Animal Traffic, on mississippi, which also happens to be my favorite area.
the main reason for the trip was to visit the school I was accepted into, PNCA. although I hear it's an excellent school, it wasn't my cup of tea. it just really wasn’t what I was looking for at all for my education as a photography major or as well as a student. I am still planning on moving there in the end of summer though, and hopefully go to lewis & clark or the university. any advice, portlandians?

(my digital camera is still broken, so I had to rely on film the whole trip! shot with canon ae1)

  7. You hair looks so pretty and full in these photos!! I'm fairly tempted to swap entirely to film myself, sometimes. But digital is free haha.
I really want that tote now, it's already in my etsy favs.
    Hopefully you'll decide on a university :)
I went to a regional university in my first year and often I think that the lecturers were better and more charismatic than the ones in the big city uni I go to. And at least they had enough rooms to go around...

  11. One of my friends took photography at Pnca for half the year this year, but ended up switching to Lewis and Clark. She likes it so much more because she can also study other things, as well as photography. Unlike Pnca where it is basically only photography. Lewis and Clark is a really beautiful campus though! It has so many eco friendly things and is just gorgeous in the fall time! :) I think you will just enjoy Portland though as a whole, Oregon is a great place to live! :)

  16. Hey, I moved to Portland and I'm studying photography. I attend PNCA's sister school Oregon College of Art and Craft. Beautiful campus, completely different from PNCA, i almost went there as well. I really think the school would fit your style.

  17. I love your blog! I actually go to Lewis & Clark- it's not everyone's cup of tea. I've had 5 good friends transfer because they felt it wasn't for them. I used to feel that way but after sticking around, I love it! It's the most beautiful school and there are a lot of benefits to the educational side of the experience. Plus, getting to downtown PDX couldn't be easier from campus, which is really great. I'm taking my first photography class in the fall, so I can't say from personal experience what the photo classes are like, but I hear good things. I'm in love with the International Affairs and English departments though (my major and minor) and you'll get a little taste of a bunch of the departments anyway!! Good luck making your decision!
