Lull

I don't really know what happened between me and my good pal photography. I used to take pictures daily and I looooved it. now, I usually just end up getting frustrated due to the lack of models, equipment, ect. I have so many ideas in my head and at the end of the day, I lay in bed thinking of how frustrating it all is that I can't get those ideas out of my head. it also doesn't help having people tell you "oh, everyone wants to be a photographer these days..." okay WELL, enough of that sad talk! I am determined to take more photos, especially film. I need to try out all of my ones from the 30's. I am desperately hoping to go to photography school in portland this year (cough, PNCA. . . pick me!) and need to get off my bum and get my portfolio together. I am trying to experiment with all types of photography, and I shot some today that were a little different. I usually never edit photos like these, but to be honest it's really refreshing and I like the way they turned out! now, if only I could get my hands on some of my very own developing chemicals... heh

  3. don't feel discouraged, and never give up! The key to being a photographer is just believing in yourself. In all honesty, you don't even need a school to be one. Some of the best photographers are self taught. That being said, still fallow your dreams. :)

  5. Photographic ruts hit me like a ton of bricks all the time, it's so frustrating. But you just have to pick up your camera and take photos of anything and it eventually passes.

  10. I enjoy these pictures, they're beautiful & refreshing. And I also love film photography! I took a film photography class and was sad when it was over because it's kind-of a lost art. I think it's great to see you're embracing it. AND I'm currently obsessed with Portland and want to go there and visit ASAP. It seems like all of my favorite designers (Frank Chimero) and crafters (Emily BlackApple & so many more) live in Portland. I'm itching to see the city that inspires them.

  11. Definately get some chemicals. They aren't too expensive and they are fun to learn to use. Good luck with photography school!

  12. i like it! very dark and dreamy. i wish i could model for you! and dont listen to those "everyone wants to be a photographer" people.. anyone whos brining you down about something you love doesnt deserve to be in influence on you. kep it up! especialy witht eh film. its sadly a dying art and my not even be around in a decade with the way things are going. so do it while you can!! good luck getting into school!
